Who should run this prompt

Module role profile

Who should build and review your marketing? Marketing fails at two points: when the message is unclear, and when it reaches the wrong people. The roles on this page cover both failure modes. Internal roles help you build, sharpen, and distribute. Outside perspectives — especially the cold customer — tell you whether what you built actually works before the campaign launches.

The roles below are who the book suggests running this prompt — this lesson’s prompt doesn’t open with a single swappable role clause, so pick one and adapt the prompt’s own wording yourself.

Internal rolesThink from inside the organisation
Chief Marketing OfficerBrand coherence, positioning, long- term audience equityDefining your brand position and core message architecture
Growth Lead (YC / Reforge trained)Loops, compounding metrics, kill what does not scaleBuilding acquisition systems, not just campaigns
Content StrategistAudience trust, pillar consistency, long-term authorityBuilding a content system that compounds over time
Direct Response CopywriterEvery word earns the next — hooks, benefits, urgencyWriting any copy that needs to convert: ads, emails, pages
SEO StrategistSearch intent, organic reach, long- term discoverabilityCreating content that attracts the right people at scale
Social Media ManagerPlatform-native formats, engagement patterns, toneAdapting your message to specific channels and audiences
Outside perspectivesChallenge your blind spots
Your Target Customer (cold)Reads your message with zero prior knowledgeDoes it land without context? Is the problem clear?
Brand JournalistIs this credible, interesting, and honest? Before publishing anything you cannot take back
Competitor's CMOHow does your message look next to theirs?Stress-testing differentiation and positioning clarity

How to make any role sharper

  1. Add years of experience: "...with 15 years in enterprise SaaS" produces different depth than just the title.
  2. Add what they care most about: "You care most about [X]" shapes every word of the output.
  3. Add their communication style: "Be direct. Flag risks first. No jargon." changes the tone entirely.

How the framework works

From the printed page

E. Jerome McCarthy's 4Ps Marketing Mix - Product, Price, Place, Promotion is the classic framework for building a complete marketing strategy. Booms and Bitner extended it to 7Ps for service businesses by adding People, Process, and Physical Evidence. The power of the framework is in checking coherence: if your premium pricing (Price) is contradicted by your distribution through discount channels (Place), your strategy has a gap. Every element of your marketing must reinforce the same positioning.

The method, in four moves

Do these in order
1

Map your current 4Ps or 7Ps before asking AI for recommendations.

2

Look for contradictions between elements, incoherence is the most common marketing failure.

3

For service businesses, People and Process are often more important than Promotion.

4

Revisit your Marketing Mix after any pricing change, channel shift, or positioning update. Build a complete, coherent marketing strategy not just tactics The most neglected P in service businesses is Process. Brilliant people and strong promotion cannot compensate for a broken delivery process customers experience the process, not the strategy. Map your client delivery process before investing more in promotion. PRO TIP

When this page changes, your copy of the book does not have to.

The book prints the framework. This page keeps it — and keeps the prompt current, because prompting technique moves faster than print does. When it moves, this page is rewritten and the code in your copy keeps pointing at it. No second edition, no replacement purchase, no account.

If something here looks wrong — a prompt that does not match its framework, a figure that reads oddly — tell Raphy. That correction reaches every printed copy at once.
